Who are your typical clients?

Young people mainly aged 14–30, but age is not a restriction to accessing support.

What do you do all day?

One-to-one support, develop and deliver study skills packs, group work, evaluate the quality of learning support services, and liaise with staff.

What's the best bit of your job?

Supporting students on a daily basis.

Are there any downsides?

Not enough hours in the day!

What are your work history highlights?

Seeing the progression as disengaged young people turn into successful young adults with true self-belief and confidence.

What is your dream job?

A combination of this role and counselling young offenders.

What do you like to do in your leisure time?

I’m a volunteer mentor for Serving Others through Voluntary Action and the Youth Offending Team.

Which modules have you done so far?

The Mentoring Process and Coaching for Learning.

What do you hope to get out of the course?

To re-awaken and refresh current skills and practice.

What have you got out of the course so far?

Meeting like-minded people and individuals who really care about young people’s progression.

How has the course improved your work with young people?

It’s helped with structuring my student paperwork and keeping up to date with new innovations and good practice.
