Learning coaches a success at young people’s conference

The aim of the conference was to promote individual Learning Pathways to pupils ranging in age from 11 to 18. Pupils attended a variety of workshops in groups of 15 and took back what they had learnt to their schools and colleges, giving presentations in their assembly time.

Angela and Jill talked about the role of the learning coach and who can access the service. Helped by their experiences on the Learning Coaches course, they designed a very interactive session that included them role-playing the parts of young person and learning coach and pupils taking part in one of the listening exercises from Module 1. The feedback they received after the workshops was extremely positive.

Angela and Jill both regularly make use of what they have learnt from the Learning Coaches course in their everyday work, for example making use of music, objects such as cuddly toys and exercises they have experienced during the training. They were chosen to take part in the conference because of the excellent work they have both been doing in the learning coach role.
